Civic honours required for Team GB Olympic medallists?

By Kelly Larwood
9 August 2012

Local authorities may be wondering how they can honour the outstanding achievements of Team GB athletes living or raised locally with regional accolades.

Shaw’s have, for over 260 years, supplied civic and official insignia and memorabilia to local government, ranging from traditional scrolls to heraldic shields and presentation plaques. Each object is individually designed and manufactured with the utmost care.

Shaw’s offer a wide variety of hand-illuminated scrolls, which are normally used for such occasions as the conferment of the Honorary Freedom on an individual. Documents can also be produced in connection with the creation of messages of congratulations. Therefore a traditional hand-illuminated scroll may be the ideal gift to bestow upon athletes to commemorate their achievement in the Olympics.

Our presentation caskets are ideal for containing scrolls of Honorary Freedoms or addresses of congratulations. Designs can be executed in wood, silver, and Perspex and silver.

Please contact our experienced advisors if you wish to discuss how you might go about celebrating your local athlete’s amazing achievement in a formal way.
