40 Commando receives Freedom of the Town

By Kelly Larwood
16 July 2014

Shaw’s were recently delighted to be commissioned by Weston-super-Mare Town Council to produce a freedom scroll and silver and perspex casket for presentation to 40 Commando Royal Marines.

The commissioned items were used to grant the Freedom of the Town of Weston-super-Mare to the 40 Commando Royal Marines unit as part of a spectacular event amid Armed Forces Day celebrations on Saturday 21st June 2014.

As you can see from the photographs, kindly supplied by Weston-super-Mare Town Council, the silver and Perspex casket containing the scroll took pride of place in the special event. The Mayor tied ribbons on each end in the colour of 40 Commando.

Encompassing traditional techniques and materials, Shaw’s beautiful caskets and hand-illuminated scrolls are the perfect way for any council to both recognise and reward outstanding and dedicated local individuals and regiments with connections in the area.
